Election Information - May 2, 2023 Special Election


There is a Special Election for residents within the Whitmore Lake School District ONLY scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, 2023.  The Clerk's Office will be open on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 8:00am-4:00pm for your voter needs.  The deadline to request an Absent Voter Ballot is 4:00pm on Monday, May 1.

Polling Locations
Polling locations are open from 7:00am-8:00pm on election day.

Absent Voter Ballots:
If you are not on the permanent AV list and would like an AV Ballot for this election, you may pick up an application at the Township office or you can apply on-line at michigan.gov/vote

AV Ballot Deadlines:
  • 5:00pm – Friday, April 28th:  Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed
  • 5:00pm – Friday, April 28th:  Deadline to spoil a returned absentee ballot with written request.
  • 4:00pm – Monday, May 1st:  Deadline for electors who have lost or not yet received their absentee ballot in the mail to spoil their absent voter ballot and receive a new one in the clerk’s office.
  • 8:00pm – Tuesday, May 2nd:  Election day registrants may obtain and vote an absent voter ballot in person in the clerk’s office or vote in person in the proper precinct.
AV Ballots must be delivered to the Clerk's office - they will not be accepted at the polling locations. When mailing your ballot, please allow adequate time for mail delivery.  We CANNOT accept Post Marks as your ballot submission date.  Ballots received after 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 CANNOT BE TABULATED.

Northfield Township has two 24-hour drop boxes available at the Public Safety Building (8350 Main St.) for AV Ballots (see images below) – the black drop box located outside along the entryway sidewalk, and the vestibule drop box located inside the office vestibule (first set of doors) on the left-hand wall.  Both drop boxes are under video surveillance and are checked multiple times daily.
