Members Needed - Planning Com. Parks & Recreation Board, DDA, Board of Review and Land Pres. Committee


Northfield Township currently has vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions:

  • Planning Commission: 2 terms ending 12/31/22.
    The Planning Commission advises Township officials on matters of planning and development of the community, approves site plans, and makes recommendations for land-use and the environment. The Planning Commission meets at 7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Planning Commission members serve 3-year terms and are appointed by the Supervisor with the approval of the Board of Trustees.

  • Board of Review: 2 Terms ending 12/31/22. 3 Regular Members and 2 Alternates needed.
    The Board of Review reviews the assessment roll received from the Assessor for complete, accurate, uniform, and valid data, and hears resident appeal requests. The Board of Review meets in March, July, and December each year. Board of Review members serve a 2-year term.

  • Downtown Development Authority (DDA): The DDA has 2 Vacancies for Business Owners within the DDA District - downtown Whitmore Lake or the US-23 and North Territorial area.
    The mission of the DDA is to undertake public improvements and activities that have the greatest impact in strengthening the business district, and attracting new private investments. The DDA typically meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month. DDA members serve 4 year terms. Interested applicants should contact Sup. Ken Dignan at dignank@northfieldmi.gov.

  • Parks & Recreation Board: The Parks & Recreation Board currently has one term vacancy, term ending 7/1/25.
    The Parks & Recreation Board is a dedicated group of residents and business owners working to establish a vision for future parks and recreation opportunities in Northfield Township, and developing projects that provide a tangible benefit to our community. Members are appointed by the Board of Trustees by recommendation from the Parks & Recreation Board, and each member serves a three year term. The Parks & Recreation Board meets on the third Thursday of each month.

  • Land Preservation Committee: The Land Preservation Committee currently has one term vacancy, and two terms ending 12/31/22.
    The Land Preservation Committee is a committee of residents put together by the Board of Trustees to look at ways to preserve agricultural and natural lands within the township. The LPC meets on the 1st Mon. of each month.
