August 2, 2022 Election Information

**** Absent Voter (AV) ballots: The State Primary election is Tuesday, August 2, 2022.  We are encouraging anyone who needs to submit their Absent Voter (AV) Ballot to drop their ballot off at the township office.  There have been noticeable delays in mail delivery.  We have been made aware that some people who have applied for an AV Ballot weeks ago have not yet received their ballot by mail.  We have also had voters indicate that they have mailed in their AV Ballot and it has not yet been received by our office.

You can track your AV ballot by visiting  https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index. If you have not received your AV ballot, or you mailed your AV ballot and it has not yet been received by our office, you can visit our office to spoil your ballot and have a new ballot issued to you prior to election day.  You can also have your ballot spoiled with a new ballot issued if you think you have voted across parties.  Since this is a primary election, voting for more than one party on your ballot will spoil the ballot.  An AV Ballot that has been returned to the clerk may be spoiled in person at the clerk’s office until 10:00am the Monday prior to the election.  An AV ballot that has not been returned to the clerk may be spoiled in person at the clerk’s office until 4:00pm the Monday prior to the election.  If you request your ballot on this day, you must vote in house, you may not take your ballot with you.

Our regular business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (closed for lunch between 1:00-1:30pm daily).  We have two secure, 24-hour drop boxes available if you are not able to make it in during normal business hours.  Our Clerk’s office will also be open on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 8:00am-4:00pm for processing of AV ballots.

AV Ballots must be received by the Clerk’s office by 8:00pm on August 2, 2022.  We CANNOT accept Post marks. Any ballots received after 8:00pm cannot be tallied.

**** This is a PRIMARY election.  A primary election is an election that narrows the field of candidates before an election for office. When voting during a Primary Election, you may only vote for candidates from ONE PARTY. Don't split your ticket!  Cross ticket voting (voting for both Republican and Democratic candidates) will spoil your ballot, and you will have to start over with a new ballot.
