Weatherization Assistance Program

The Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a program they offer that could be helpful to your household. The Weatherization Assistance Program is a free residential energy conservation program providing home energy conservation services to income qualified Michigan homeowners and renters. These services can reduce home energy use by roughly 30% and in turn lower utility bills. This kind of savings can be a real relief for those who have limited financial flexibility. Any resident of Washtenaw County who has an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level may qualify for this program.

Through the weatherization program, they are able to:

  • Perform a comprehensive energy audit to assess the energy usage of a home
  • Repair and replace inefficient furnaces
  • Replace old refrigerators with brand new, energy efficient refrigerators
  • Air seal and insulate walls, attics, and crawl spaces
  • Install energy efficient light bulbs and fresh air fan systems

All work is overseen and inspected by Washtenaw County employees.  Please contact 734-544-3008 or http://bit.ly/OCEDweatherization to see if you qualify.
